Gospel Clarity & Charity

Details

Any church’s unity is based – most fundamentally – on our shared commitment to Jesus Christ as we have received him in the gospel message. However, just because we all use the term “Jesus” or “gospel” does not mean we’re always talking about the same thing!

In our Gospel Clarity & Charity Document, IAC has sought to clarify what we believe about the gospel.

We ask that all who belong at IAC read these beliefs, wrestling with whether you (a) agree with them, or (b) are willing to abide in a community that believes them.

In IAC’s language:
Agreeing indicates that you are in concert with a belief and are committed to living out its implications in your own life.
Abiding indicates that you may not agree with a belief, but you are willing to participate in a community that believes these things and not cause division around that belief.

After discerning, please submit the Gospel Clarity & Charity Form

Please know that we welcome people to belong at IAC who do not necessarily agree with all the belief commitments listed below! This is not meant to be a "litmus test" for whether IAC is home, but simply provide clarity for everyone who is engaged in our community.

Certain lay leadership positions (like Church Council or teaching positions) may be linked to certain responses to this document, but we commit to providing opportunities for anyone to serve within IAC, regardless of Agreement or Abiding responses.
